programma dedicato alla ricerca sonora
del The Rad'Art Project
l'Associazione Artéco propone
una passeggiata sonora (Soundwalk),
condotta dall'artista tedesco-canadese Hildegard Westerkamp, che si terrà
sul percorso dell'antica strada tra San Romano e Linaro, nel territorio del Comune
di Mercato Saraceno, il 27 giugno 2010, a partire dalle ore 10,00. Un "Soundwalk" è una passeggiata
nella quale si presta una particolare attenzione all'ascolto dell'ambiente che
ci circonda: può essere eseguita in un qualinque luogo, in un parco, in campagna,
in città, anche in un luogo chiuso, un supermercato, una biblioteca o una cattedrale.
Possiamo anche impegnare in una seduta di ascolto un'attesa
alla stazione o nello studio di un medico. Soundwalking è dare un ruolo predominante
all'udito, in qualunque luogo ci troviamo. Il soundwalk può
essere fatto da soli, o con un amico o in piccoli gruppi, può essere fatto con
gli occhi bendati, lasciandoci guidare da altri ... non è importante la forma
che il soundwalk prende: il suo scopo è quello di riscoprire e riattivare il nostro
senso dell'udito, per troppo tempo trascurato, tanto che abbiamo fatto ben poco
per sviluppare intorno a noi un ambiente acustico di buona qualità. Hildegard Westerkamp nasce a Osnabrück, Germania, nel 1946. Si è trasferita in Canada
nel 1968. Dopo avere terminato i suoi studi di musica negli anni settanta è stata
la fondatrice insieme a Murray Schafer, Barry Truax ed altri del W.S.P. (World
Soundscape Project) collaborando alla nascita del movimento per paesaggio sonoro
ed ecologia acustica di cui Schafer sarà il simbolo con il famoso libro 'The Tuning
of the World' (Trad. Paesaggi sonori). Hildegard considera
l'ambiente acustico come un vasto e variegato contesto
culturale promuovendo una sensibilità maggiore e più attenta per un ascolto consapevole. È quindi stata
una delle prime persone ad inventare e praticare la passeggiata sonora (Soundwalk).
Le sue composizioni musicali sono state spesso anche create ed utilizzate per
trasmissioni radiofoniche. Il percorso artistico
di Hildegard Westerkamp è interamente focalizzato sul "Suono ambiente"
e sull'"Ecologia acustica", con influenze che potremmo far risalire
alle ricerche di noti compositori contemporanei come John Cage e Pauline Oliveros. Ha insegnato ai
corsi di comunicazione acustica all'università del Simon Fraser (1981-91) a Vancouver
(BC) e tiene conferenze e workshops sul soundscape in tutto il mondo. È membro fondatore
del Forum Mondiale per l'Ecologia Acustica (WFAE, 1993) ed è stato redattrice del Soundscape Bullettin fra il 1991
ed il 1995. È ora nel Comitato di redazione del giornale di Soundscape - The Journal
of Acoustic Ecology, pubblicazione del WFAE di cui
l'associazione FKL (Forum
Klanglandschaft) fa parte.
